Sand, Sea and Sunshine DIYs Of The Week

Summer is here and in full swing and there’s nothing like fun in the sun, but keep them protected and in fun fashion items too!

Well, Martha Stewart usually has an amazing way with words but we all know she has a better way with making things from scratch!

This week’s craft is Martha Stewart’s Pom-Pom Flip Flops – it takes less than 20 minutes to make!

Crochet Sun hats can be made in all sorts of fabulous materials, the most obvious is cotton, but you can even try thinly ripped sheets of cotton (from sheets)! Lionbrand has published this fabulous pattern for you to follow – click Lionbrand Sun Hat for Kids.

I have always wanted to replace my beach matts with something more comfortable to lay or lean on. The palm stranded or beach grass (whatever it is!) woven ones can bald your elbows whilst reading or make sand feel even harder when you sit it on them – like a pumice rock! Here’s an easy solution for all ages! Easy beach matts with towels and buttons by

And there are two things you are allowed to cheat on in terms of beach comfort – that is on Umbrellas and Beach Chairs! Click on World Market and surf through the many affordable options they have before they all sell out! ANd everything looks like it’s on sale now! Go Quickly!

It’s so so fun to scale the beach for all sorts of seas shells and even sharks teeth with your kids. The only things I have ever done with seashells is put them in jars or loosely in their rooms only to be thrown out when they get crushed. However, Martha Stewart, once again, has come up up with some nifty solutions: Sea Shell Night Lights! Just Click Martha Stewart Sea Shell and you’re on your way! And to go a bit further, here are even more ideas!

And at the end of the day, what better way to end it than with non-alcoholic lemonades or jazzed up water with fruit garnishes or Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade or Watermelon Jalapeno Cocktail Cooler to cool you off! Kids can enjoy a virgin lemonade too!

Have fun in the sun this year! Just remember to put that SPF 30 on keep everyone safe from sunburns!
